On our last full day in Paris, we started by waking up incredibly early to see the Eiffel tower up close. The Eiffel Tower has a way of looming over the city of Paris. It just doesn’t seem right to be in Paris without standing underneath this beautiful giant. I always recommend getting to places early if you want to take pictures without the massive crowds.
Later, we went to Sacre Coeur Basilica and Place du Terte. Each morning, lots of talented artists display their beautiful artwork on display to sell. They also line up their easels ready to create portraits, caricatures and silhouettes of tourists. Mark and I decided to get our couples portrait drawn. It was a little strange sitting there with people staring at you while you had your portrait done. I didn’t even realize I had a permanent smirk until I saw the sketch afterwards. However, getting our portrait sketched was something I was happy to cross off our Paris bucket list.
We also roamed around the Montmartre neighborhood, stopping to see the iconic Moulin Rouge. We considered seeing a show there, however, we opted for the Lido cabaret later that night after comparing the reviews.
Then, we hopped on a boat to take a cruise along the Seine river through Vendette Cruises. I highly recommend that you start your trip in Paris with a cruise of the Seine to get better acquainted with the big attractions. Each boat has a guide that provides commentary and fun facts about the different historical sites you pass along. Paris is really beautiful from this vantage point. Along the river, we saw a bunch of cute little moments like couples on dates right on the edge of the river, and there was even a small group of people tango dancing on the side of the Seine.
As previously mentioned, we finished our night by seeing a cabaret show at the Lido. You have the option of ordering dinner and drinks before the show. The entertainment included sultry acts, ice skating, acrobats, and dancing. It was a great way to end our time in Paris.
I hope you enjoyed our three day recap of the City of Love!
